Well, we finally got through the summer heat spell without the horrible wildfires that often ravage the mountaintop communities this time of the year. Now it’s time to relax and enjoy what there is showing on the so-called “idiot box.”
There are several TV shows that we enjoy viewing when there is nothing else to do around the house. One such program is The Big Bang Theory and its spinoff Young Sheldon, both of which provide us with intelligent, side-splitting laughter. Its cousin, Friends, is similar in tone but, in my opinion, not as funny. If it’s funny you want, try Jon Stewart’s The Daily Show or Jimmy Fallon’s Tonight Show.
Also providing uninterrupted, intelligent laughter are the never-ending antics of our two orange and white kitties, Albert and Rusty, who interrupt my sleep, nightly, by licking my arm and chin. Next, they chase each other up and down the stairs with reckless abandon while playing Mortal Combat with one another, which is quite normal for cats, whether they’re kitty cats, lions, tigers or any other type of feline.
They are quite mischievous, but they want to be helpful, so they are most often either underfoot or in my way when I’m trying to do something that I think is important, such as when I’m composing my Musings. Theyyy just want to help. Here they are again, walking all over my keyboard.
Albert, the more mature brother to the reckless and immature Rusty, may soon be brought back for a revival of the much-acclaimed Albert The Kat Show, featuring Albert’s token, but not shy, girlfriend, Zelda.
I’ll light the fire; you place the flowers in the vase that you brought me today. Our house is a very, very fine house with three cats in the yard. (“Our House” – Crosby, Stills and Nash – 1970)
Now, wait a derned tootin’ minute Neil (Neil Young), there’s only two cats in the yard.
Keep it flyin’, (The only thing flyin’ around here is fur)
