Our Rim High Marching Scots were fantastic on Sept. 26 at the Duarte band review and parade!
We received our highest score since 2013!
The adjudication process has shifted as of this year to a new type of judging platform. Now the process is similar to our festival adjudication, which means we have several judges who give verbal recordings about our performance as well as a scoring sheet. This means we now have more exact commentary on the precise things that our band is doing well and things that we need to improve on.
This year our band is led by head drum major Colin Hobson. As a junior, we will have the privilege of Colin’s leadership for two years starting this year. Colin has already brought a strong, committed family dynamic to the band. His leadership has encouraged the students to play as strong as they can without being discouraged when we reach our failure points.
As usual, our judges commented on the surprisingly large sound with such a small band. They particularly liked the trombone and baritone sound – shout out to Kaydin Lowery and Francis Hahn Rivera.
A big thank you to my parent volunteers. We really went through it on Saturday and you provided a huge service to these kids. Thank you to the Gonzales Family, the Horvath Family, the Hobson Family, the Lowery Family, the Porter Family, the Miller Family, the McNeil/Spencer Family and the Peterson Family.
Our next competition is on Oct. 24 at the Loara band review.
