First Friday at The Lake House not only features the work of exceptional artists but also benefits local charities, who receive a portion of the proceeds.
The First Friday event on Nov. 6 will feature the work of artists Laura Wambsgans and Deborah Day.
Native Californian Laura Wambsgans has been creating fine art since 1986. For 20 years she carved marble sculpture, winning numerous awards and appearing in Sculpture Magazine, including on its cover. She began landscape oil painting during those years and has painted full time since 2004.
Through intensive study with Scott Christensen and other well-respected landscape painters, along with a daily painting practice, Wambsgans strives to capture the effect of light on the land through color and paint quality. Her work has been exhibited nationally in solo and group exhibitions.
Deborah Day feeds her spirit for adventure by exploring the West. She regularly travels between California and Wyoming where light, color and wide-open spaces are her welcomed companions.
Her curiosity about the world and different cultures has led to a number of international trips. She has numerous awards for her work and uses some of her art to raise funds for humanitarian and conservation causes. She is published in numerous magazines and in the book Of Women and Horses by GaWaNi Pony Boy.
Each month owner Robin Lyles donates a portion of the proceeds from the event to a mountain nonprofit. The Rim of the World Historical Society will be the Nov. 6 recipient.
Stop by The Lake House from 4 to 7 p.m. to enjoy some appetizers, wine and fine art on Nov. 6. Chat with the artists, learn more about the Rim of the World Historical Society and catch up with your neighbors.
