The idea grew out of a conversation Sue Priest, president of Mountain Arts Network, had with Erin Willey, general manager of Lake Arrowhead Village.

Why not have a handful of artists show their work in the Village and demonstrate how they create it? Not only would it promote the artists who are part of Mountain Arts Network, but it would also provide a much-needed event – something for both residents and visitors to enjoy.

The first such event took place on Sept. 12 with nine artists – Alma Borcuk, Helga Batman-Koplin, Linda White, Rebecca Smith, Rebecca Maloof, Munir, Lynn Warnesky-Baker, Dennis Warnesky and Sue Priest – participating.

Their work ranged from acrylic landscape painting to photography, Chinese brush painting to ceramics, copper flame painting to textile art, jewelry to watercolors done by the Mountain of Promise artists.

“We hope to hold more of these shows and demonstrations,” Priest said. She noted that she chose the artists for the variety they provided in media and style.
