Lake Arrowhead resident named chief development and marketing officer

Lutheran Social Services of Southern California (LSSSC) – a leading provider of social services programs in Southern California – has selected Lake Arrowhead resident Lori J. Butler, CFRE as its chief development and marketing officer.

Butler will oversee the nonprofit’s fundraising, marketing and donor development including a $38 million capital and building campaign for a Community Wellness Center in the City of San Bernardino.

Licensed in six counties, Lutheran Social Services provides local programs and case management, a food pantry, housing counseling, peer training programs and assistance to victims of domestic or other forms of violence.

“I first learned of LSSSC from the incredible mental health services they provide in the remote areas of the San Bernardino Mountains,” Butler said. “I met families who literally had loved ones’ lives saved by their program. To be able to share real-world help with others and openly do so while sharing the love of Christ is truly the pinnacle of my 30-year career in nonprofit leadership.”

Butler is a certified fundraising executive with more than 27 years of experience working with donors and supporters. She has successfully led development and marketing teams managing all aspects of philanthropy, including events, grant writing, direct mail campaigns, major gifts and capital campaigns.

Butler previously served at The ALS Association in Orange and San Diego Counties, The National Alliance on Mental Health, Feeding America Inland Empire and most recently spearheaded fundraising for a women’s recovery foundation in Orange County during the COVID-19 crisis.
