The Roaring 20s Casino Night held at Crestline’s historic San Moritz Lodge on Saturday, April 29, lured 65 players and was sold out, making it a Full House event. The formal affair, which got underway at 6 p.m. in the lodge’s Great Room, found players and their accomplices formally attired in Roaring 20s apparel.

Prior to the start of gaming action, many couples and groups enjoyed hors d’oeuvres, prepared by Fox in the Woods Catering, and adult beverages while listening and dancing to 20s-era tunes played by the Gem City Jazz Cats.

Seated at one table was Carolina Towles from Chino Hills, whose husband owns the Monrovia-based band. When asked if she had ever visited the San Moritz Lodge before, Carolina responded, “We came to last year’s Casino Night, and we were married here in December of 2021.”

Meanwhile, in the adjacent bar room, gaming action was in progress with dealers dealing blackjack, Texas Hold’em and the roulette wheel was spinning, with players using not real but play money, as that would be frowned upon by the Feds (Gaming Commission).

When all was said and done at 9 p.m., players began leaving with fond memories and tales to tell. All in all, it was a fun-filled evening, which will most likely be repeated next year.
