An evening filled with lobsters, dancing and bidding

It was a somewhat messy but delicious evening! The Rotary Club of Crestline-Lake Gregory sponsored its Lobster at the Lake event at the San Moritz Lodge on Saturday, Oct. 21.

The lobsters were masterfully cooked this year by Phillip Cooper (holding the crustaceans) and Jesse Mills (1). They were assisted by Elizabeth O’Neil, a member of the Rotary Club of Lake Arrowhead Mountain Sunrise. O’Neil was also spotted helping struggling diners dismantle their lobsters – a messy business to be sure!

Showing off their cooked lobsters are Teri Ostlie, Jay Rynda and Jeri Simpson (2), all members of the Rotary Club of Lake Arrowhead. And this table of revelers (3) was ready to dig in. One member of their party was celebrating a birthday, as was Cheryl Moxley-Harrison, who attended with her husband, Charlie Harrison (4).

Ronda and Jay Rynda (5) were quick to take to the dance floor, where they were soon joined by many guests, happy to have Highland Music Company – considered by many to be the Crestline club’s house band – back playing great classic rock.

The crew sent by Mike Johnstone and Goodwin’s Market couldn’t help but rock out to the tunes (6). They helped Chef Fred Keville – the kitchen facilitator for the event – by slicing and plating the dessert and serving the salad, scalloped potatoes and green beans to the guests.

The silent auction tables buzzed with activity all night as folks hovered to protect their bids. There was feverish bidding on several of the dozen or so items, all of which went home with happy and sated guests.

The proceeds from this fundraiser will be used by the Rotary club to help defray the costs of the free community Thanksgiving dinner, which will take place on Nov. 23 at the San Moritz Lodge. Several churches and nonprofit organizations have stepped up to help with the preparations and to help serve on Thanksgiving. More help is always welcome.
