As the president of the Crestline-Lake Gregory Rotary Club, I am inviting the community to the free dinner on Thanksgiving, Nov. 23. It will take place at the San Moritz Lodge with dinner served from noon to 4 p.m.

For the past several years, our Rotary club has coordinated this dinner, with lots of help from other community organizations and individuals. Without their help, it would not be possible for us to take on this huge task.

Last year, between the meals served at the lodge, sent home from the lodge and delivered, we provided about 1,500 traditional Thanksgiving dinners. Much of this was made possible by the scores of volunteers who prepared the turkeys and the side dishes, deep fried and smoked the turkeys, served the food, bussed the tables and cleaned up the lodge at the end of the day.

No reservations are required – just come and choose a seat with the help of our greeter. Some folks arrive alone and choose to either dine by themselves or find or make friends with whom to share their thanks. And then there are entire families who arrive to celebrate together and with their neighbors.

Once again this year, the students in the EarlyAct Clubs at Valley of Enchantment Elementary School will be creating the table decorations.

The Crestline-Lake Gregory Rotary Club extends its thanks to the Lake Gregory Company for donating the use of the lodge, which is located at 24640 San Moritz Drive in Crestline. And we thank Chef Fred Keville, who has stepped up as the kitchen facilitator this year.

Come enjoy some turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, green beans, corn, cranberry sauce and, of course, pie! And, if you’re interested in volunteering, contact Jeri-Lynn Miller at lttlmissy@gmail.com or (909) 754-9742.
