The Lake Arrowhead Rotary Foundation is exploring the establishment of a Lake Arrowhead Senior Center in Lake Arrowhead to enable physical activity via low-cost yoga, dance, tai chi and other activities to enrich the lives of seniors and others, especially important in the winter months.
In order to achieve this vision, the Lake Arrowhead Rotary Foundation has approved the formation of a new nonprofit, the Lake Arrowhead Rotary Senior Center. This new nonprofit is actively seeking contributions in two significant ways. Firstly, they are conducting a comprehensive needs assessment to shape our concept based on community input (see the QR code to take the survey). They will be hosting community meetings where residents can voice their ideas. Those meetings will take place on Wednesday, May 15 at 5:30 p.m. and Saturday, May 18 at 10:30 a.m.; both meetings will take place in the Alpine Escrow community room in the Blue Jay Mall.
Secondly, they are in search of a building within Lake Arrowhead to serve as the heart of their operations. They welcome the donation of a building or offers of a long-term lease to help them realize this vision.
Joyce Eckert, representing the newly established executive board, shared a comprehensive vision for the initiative: “Our aspirations reach far beyond just creating a space for seniors to gather. We envision the Lake Arrowhead Rotary Senior Center as a cornerstone for meeting the physical and mental health needs of our valued senior community. This center will be a hub for nurturing relationships, building collaborative networks and improving life for all residents of Lake Arrowhead.”
Anyone interested in participating in the effort to establish such a senior center or who has suggestions regarding a potential location is asked to reach out to the Lake Arrowhead Rotary Senior Center board at (949) 300-3616 or by email at lakearrowheadseniors@gmail.com.
