Honoring a former teacher and friend

Virgil Stowe was a teacher, a contractor and, above all, a kind and compassionate friend. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Crestline, where he taught Sunday school, and was a member of the Crestline-Lake Gregory Rotary Club for 38 years until his death at the age of 94 in 2022. On June 13, five of his former students – who call themselves Stowies – met at Higher Grounds coffee house to dedicate a bench in Stowe’s honor. His daughter, Kim, was also there. Several folks shared warm memories of Mr. Stowe, as his former students still call him.
