Stolen vehicle leads to arrest of four people

On Saturday, Sept. 21, at 10:35 a.m., deputies responded to a 911 call. According to the caller, their 2005 Ford F250 was stolen from Little Rock High School on Sept. 18. The stolen vehicle was seen at a residence in the 9900 block of Lebec Road in Phelan by friends of the victim.

Deputies responded and located the vehicle. A search warrant was served at the residence and the stolen vehicle was recovered and returned to the owner. An altered key that fit the punched ignition, narcotics and drug paraphernalia were located inside the house.

Rudy Romo, 44 of Phelan, was arrested for possession of stolen property. Joshua Kemp, 35 of Laguna Hills, was arrested for possession of narcotics. Renee Walker, 24 of Phelan, was on probation and was arrested for an outstanding warrant. Kandyce Christinsen, 38 of Phelan, was arrested for outstanding warrants. All four suspects were booked at the High Desert Detention Center.

 Palmdale resident arrested for stolen vehicle

On Tuesday, Sept. 24, at 8:41 am, Deputy J. Ballinger responded to the report of a person passed out in a blue Chevrolet Tahoe near Sheep Creak Road and Sunset Road in Phelan.

As Deputy Ballinger arrived, a Hispanic male fled from the vehicle on foot. He was described as a male adult, approximately 30 years of age, with a bald head. He was last seen wearing a black T-shirt and tan cargo shorts.  Melissa Powell, 42 of Palmdale, was located inside the vehicle. The vehicle had no license plates displayed and was found to be stolen out of Phelan on Sept. 21.

Powell was arrested without incident for possession of stolen property. Armando Garcia, 39 of Los Angeles, was located nearby and arrested for outstanding warrants. Deputies are still working on identifying the male suspect who fled.

Adelanto man arrested for assaulting two people

On Thursday, Sept. 26, at 9:29 a.m., deputies responded to a 911 call in the 18400 block of Thomas Court in Adelanto.

According to the caller, Alexander Torres, 38 of Adelanto, went to his father’s house and started assaulting him. Deputies arrived and, through the investigation, were able to substantiate the allegations. Torres became combative with deputies during arrest but was eventually taken into custody.

While still at the residence, deputies received a report of a female stabbing victim at Dunes Liquor in Adelanto. Deputies learned Torres had met the victim for the first time at the liquor store. After a verbal disagreement, Torres stabbed the victim in the chest with a screwdriver before walking to his father’s residence. The victim was transported by ambulance to a local hospital.

Torres was arrested for elder abuse, obstructing a peace officer and assault with a deadly weapon and booked at the High Desert Detention Center.

Deputies respond to vehicle vs pedestrian – woman pronounced deceased

On Sunday, Sept. 29, at approximately 7:13 p.m., deputies from the Victorville Station, rescue personnel from the Victorville Fire Department and American Medical Response responded to a vehicle versus pedestrian crash that occurred in the area of La Mesa Road and Evelyn Court in Victorville.

Upon arrival, deputies determined that a blue Kia Optima and an unidentified female were involved in a vehicle versus pedestrian crash. The pedestrian sustained major injuries and was transported to a local hospital. Despite lifesaving measures, the pedestrian succumbed to her injuries. The driver of the Kia Optima remained on scene and cooperated with deputies. The Victorville Major Accident Investigation Team responded and assumed the investigation.

La Mesa Road between Topaz Road and Mesa Linda Avenue was closed for several hours for the investigation.

Early morning crash in Victorville leaves one man deceased

On Sunday, Sept. 29, at about 12:11 a.m., deputies from the Victorville Police Station, along with Victorville Fire Department and American Medical Response personnel, responded to the area of Green Tree Boulevard and Hesperia Road in the city of Victorville for a two-vehicle crash.

Upon arrival, it was determined a blue Toyota Corolla traveled west on Green Tree Boulevard and entered eastbound lanes of traffic and crashed head on into a white Chevrolet Silverado that traveled eastbound in the eastbound lane of Green Tree Boulevard. The driver of the Toyota Corolla, a resident of Adelanto, sustained major injuries and was transported to Desert Valley Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

Green Tree Boulevard was closed between the areas of Coad Road and Hesperia Road for several hours.

Hit-and-run suspect arrested after vehicle found with front-end damage

On Wednesday, Sept. 25, at about 8:17 a.m., deputies from the Hesperia Station responded to a hit-and-run traffic collision at Main Street and Key Point Drive. The victim’s vehicle had rolled and the driver was trapped inside the vehicle. The San Bernardino County Fire Department was able to extricate the victim, who was found to have minor injuries, from the vehicle.

Witnesses provided detailed information on the suspect vehicle and described it to be a silver Honda with front-end damage. Deputies conducted an area check and located the suspect vehicle traveling near Sheffield Street and Rock Springs Road. The driver, Antonio Jimenez, 32 of Hesperia, was detained without incident. Jimenez was arrested, cited and released.

The investigation (Case No. 192406402) is being forwarded to the District Attorney’s Office for review.

Transient arrested for possession of methamphetamine for sale

On Thursday, Sept. 26, Deputy Robert Beler responded to the 2400 block of Monterey Avenue in San Bernardino in reference to an illegal entry into a dwelling. Beler contacted the suspect, identified as Joshue Zarate, 33, a transient of San Bernardino, inside the residence. Beler arrested Zarate and conducted a search of his person.

During the search of Zarate, Beler located a realistic looking BB gun pistol in his waistband and a clear plastic bag with approximately two ounces of suspected methamphetamine in his pant pocket. The large quantity of methamphetamine was consistent with drug sales under H&S Code 11378. Deputy Beler arrested Zarate for violation of H&S Code 11378, Possession of Methamphetamine for Sales, a felony. Zarate was booked at Central Detention Center and held on $30,000 bail.

Juvenile suspect leads deputies in pursuit 

On Thursday, Sept. 26, Deputy J. Causey was assigned to the city of Grand Terrace for pro-active patrol. Causey initiated a traffic stop on an off-road motorcycle for a vehicle registration and helmet violation. The rider failed to yield to the emergency lights and audible siren. The suspect led deputies on an approximate four-mile pursuit northbound on the I- 215 freeway and through the city of Grand Terrace. The rider ran several stop lights and recklessly rode on the sidewalk near Barton Road and Town Square.

Sheriff’s Aviation responded to assist deputies in pursuing the motorcycle. After about 20 minutes, Sheriff’s Aviation observed the suspect take a blind corner and directed deputies to his location. Central Station’s Multi Enforcement Team apprehended him without further incident.  The suspect was identified as a 17-year-old male juvenile from the city of Colton. He was arrested for felony evading and transported to San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Central Station where he was cite released to his parent.
