Join the Mountain Bruins, help a student

Dec 5, 2024 | Lake Arrowhead

The UCLA Mountain Bruins have started their 2025 membership drive. The group provides tuition support to any mountain student accepted to UCLA; this support is for all four years. We also provide a field trip for sophomores and juniors from the local mountain schools to visit UCLA and see it up close.

The Mountain Bruins have two main sources of funding: membership dues and the funds raised by the silent and live auction at the spring gala.

Membership in the UCLA Mountain Bruins allows members to attend any or all of the group’s events at a discount.

Family membership ($50 for the year) includes your immediate family and a discount at all events.

Dining membership ($150) has all of the above plus a monthly gathering on the second Sunday of each month with a social hour with great appetizers and dinner that follows. One corkage fee per family is waived at the dining members dinner.

Blue membership ($500) includes all of the perks of the Dining membership plus two tickets to the spring gala.

Gold membership ($1,000) includes all the perks of the Dining membership level plus four tickets to the spring gala.

Currently there are five freshmen, one junior and one senior attending UCLA, for a combined commitment of $10,500 for the 2024-2025 school year.

Over the year, the UCLA Mountain Bruins have raised about $330,000 for the scholarships, which have been provided to more than 120 Rim area students.

Events planned for 2025 include participating in the PolaRotary Bear Plunge on Feb. 1; a meet and greet; the spring gala; wine on the Zen Deck in the spring and fall; a local’s night kick-off dinner in June; and the Harvest Moon dinner in October.
