April 27 is sure to be an exciting and noisy day from 12:30 to 3:00 p.m. at the Lake Arrowhead Resort and Spa as the Blue Jay Jazz Foundation presents its annual fundraiser in support of the school bands in the Rim of the World Unified School District.
The Rim High jazz band is set to perform several jazz standards in this season’s live Jazz Cafe setting. The Resort’s ballroom will take on a cool glow as Music Director Kari Stebbing sets the stage for an outstanding day of music. The Foundation’s 2025 Future Generation Jazz Scholars will be announced during the show and light refreshments will be served thanks to event sponsor Paul Steffen of Wheeler Steffen Sotheby’s International Realty.

April 27 will also feature Music & Arts’ ever popular instrument petting zoo where kids big and small are invited to touch, strum, blow, plunk and make joyful noise at this hands-on musical experience for grade-schoolers. The “zookeepers” from Music & Arts Center, a musical instrument retailer with many Southern California locations, will introduce the young and curious to brass, woodwind, string and percussion instruments. Not only will they demonstrate how the instruments work and how they sound, the youngsters will get a chance to actually hold and play them.
Sponsored by Music & Arts Center of Riverside and the Women’s Club of Lake Arrowhead, this is an opportunity for youngsters to touch a wide variety of different instruments and talk with knowledgeable representatives about how they work.
The Blue Jay Jazz Foundation will also display their instrument lending library, where students can see instruments that are available to borrow for free for up to one year. The Blue Jay Jazz Foundation maintains a collection of instruments that can be borrowed at no cost. The Foundation believes access to instruments is a key part of helping to bring music into young lives.
Join us on Sunday, April 27, from 12:30 to 3:00 p.m. at the Lake Arrowhead Resort and Spa. A $10 donation is requested at the door; students attend for free.
