The grand opening of the Rim of the World farmers market drew a steady flow of customers on Sunday, April 20. Set up in the parking lot at Rim of the World High School, some folks came because they had heard about it; others saw the activity and stopped to see what was going on. In addition to fruits and vegetables (1), there were flowers, microgreens, empanadas, 28 flavors of Greek yogurt, coffee, Mediterranean appetizers and bread. There were also a variety of pastries and sweets – Ukrainian, Middle Eastern and French (made from ingredients imported from France). Blank Tapes – Matt Adams and Sarah Barlow from Joshua Tree (3) – provided live music. The California Farmers Market Collective – which runs this market and the one in Twin Peaks – anticipates having six farms at future markets as well as hot food. The Rim of the World farmers market will take place on Sundays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
