Erin Zhou, a local teen, has been playing the violin for several years and is a talented performer. Her current focus is on preparing for the MountainTop Strings tour in Italy next summer.

Members of Soroptimist International of Rim of the World were recently treated to a performance by Erin. The service club presented her with a check for $500 toward her expenses on the trip to Italy.

During the tour, the young musicians will play concerts in a number of churches and auditoriums. They will learn much about Italian history and tour the great historic places.

The Soroptimists raise their funds through fundraisers like their discount dining card and sales of daffodil bulbs. Some of those funds go to scholarships they present to graduating Rim students.

President Virge Witte invites women who wish to join their organization to contact her through their website, www.sirow.org.
