First Friday at The Lake House not only features the work of exceptional artists but also benefits local charities, who receive a portion of the proceeds.
The First Friday ev
ent on Oct. 2 will feature the work of three artists: painter Julie R. Evans, potter Kim T. Black and woodturner Holger Paetau.

Holger Paetau
Julie R. Evans prefers to work in oils, painting realistic scenes that are little slices of life. Her main inspiration is the natural world and day-to-day life. She is often struck by spontaneous observations that yield successful paintings.
Kim T. Black is a second-generation ceramic artist whose work is rooted in both tradition and place. Originally from Georgia and now based in California, his perspective blends Southern warmth and craftsmanship with a more relaxed, minimal West Coast sensibility.
Wood turning has allowed Holger Paetau to combine his artistic visions, mathematical mindset and pure joy of working with wood to create his pieces. He uses recycled materials from discarded objects whenever possible to reduce environmental impact.
Each month owner Robin Lyles donates a portion of the proceeds from the event to a mountain nonprofit. The Rim of the World Educational Foundation will be the Oct. 2 recipient.
Stop by The Lake House from 4 to 7 p.m. to enjoy some appetizers, wine and fine art on Oct. 2. Chat with the artists, learn more about the Rim Ed Foundation and the programs it supports in the Rim of the World Unified School District and catch up with your neighbors.
