First Friday at The Lake House not only features the work of exceptional artists but also benefits local charities, who receive a portion of the proceeds from sales during the event.

The First Friday being held on Nov. 7 will feature the work of glass artisan Irma Redman and charcoal artist Jody Hughes.

Irma Redman often includes arrowheads in her glass pieces.

Irma Redman has been a glassworker for 30 years. After mastering leaded glass, copper foil and mosaic techniques, she bought her first kiln and began hot glassworking. Irma is a full time Lake Arrowhead resident and creates all her pieces in her home studio. Her love of the Lake Arrowhead community is the reason arrowheads and mountain life are often depicted in her glass.

Jody Hughes grew up in a small town in Iowa. Her path led her first to Texas to study fashion and then to New York. In time she made her way to California, continuing her career in fashion, while discovering new landscapes. Her second home in Lake Arrowhead became a sanctuary where she remained rooted in the beauty of the natural world. After retiring, she found herself drawn to the world of art and charcoal. Charcoal allows her to capture mood and atmosphere in ways that echo the rivers of Iowa and the forests of Lake Arrowhead.

From 4 to 7 p.m., guests are invited to enjoy some wine, hors d’oeuvres, friendship and fine art. Each month Robin Lyles, owner of The Lake House, chooses a local nonprofit to benefit from sales on First Friday. The Nov. 7 beneficiary will be the Rim of the World Educational Foundation. Rim Ed supports the AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) program, the CTE (Career Technical Education) classes and Partnership with Schools grants throughout the Rim school district.

The Lake House is located at 28966 Hook Creek Road in Cedar Glen. For more information, call (909) 337-7676 or visit LakeHouseCollection.com.
