Celebrate fine art while supporting Rebuilding Together

First Friday at The Lake House not only features the work of exceptional artists but also benefits local charities, who receive a portion of the proceeds from sales during the event.

The First Friday being held on Dec. 5 – the last one of the season – will feature the work of painter Robert Boatman and potter and jeweler Marcelle.

Marcelle

A member of the California Art Club and a resident of Oak Glen, Robert Boatman finds inspiration for his oil paintings in the mountains, the rural countryside and the California coastline. After retiring from a career in architecture, he now finds time to follow his passion for art and spending time with family.

Marcelle has had her hands in clay for more than 50 years; she is essentially self taught. The delicate and translucent quality of her porcelain is achieved in a high-fired electric kiln. Nature, Native Americans, Art Deco and history all influence her work. Her talent also extends into creating wire jewelry with precious metals, antique beads, pearls and shells as “wearable art.”

From 4 to 7 p.m., guests are invited to enjoy some wine, hors d’oeuvres, friendship and fine art. Each month Robin Lyles, owner of The Lake House, chooses a local nonprofit to benefit from sales on First Friday. The Dec. 5 beneficiary will be Rebuilding Together Mountain Communities. In addition to sponsoring Rebuilding Day on the last Saturday of April, this nonprofit also provides emergency repairs throughout the year to keep homeowners “warm, safe and dry.”

The Lake House is located at 28966 Hook Creek Road in Cedar Glen. For more information, call (909) 337-7676 or visit LakeHouseCollection.com.
