Wendell Wilson, representing the Mountain Homeless Coalition, was recently honored as a Community Champion by the Family Assistance Program.

Wilson is currently on the MHC board of directors and serves as the program manager for their Georgia Street cabins. Prior to moving to the mountain, he formed and directed a nonprofit agency in Tacoma, Wash., serving homeless families with children. The agency provided emergency housing, transitional housing and low-income permanent housing.

The award recognizes the Mountain Homeless Coalition “for an unwavering commitment to justice, compassion and community uplift.” The nonprofit’s work “reflects the heart of our community – bold, inclusive and rooted in love.

“This certificate honors not just Mountain Homeless Coalition and its accomplishments but the spirit embodied: resilient, visionary and deeply devoted to collective well-being. Mountain Homeless Coalition’s impact is felt in every life they’ve touched and every movement they’ve helped grow.

“Thank you, Mountain Homeless Coalition, for showing us what it means to be a true champion – for doing the work with love and inspiring us all to do the same.”
