Come “pet” an instrument and listen to our young musicians

Jan 22, 2026 | Lake Arrowhead, Mountain Events

The musicians from Mary Putnam Henck Intermediate School and Rim of the World High School invite the community to a concert on Jan. 30 at 6 p.m. in the Rim High Performing Arts Center.

Prior to the concert, the Southern California Brass Consortium Quintet has offered to give a master class to all the MPH and Rim High music students that morning. They will also perform with the students that evening.

If you child or grandchild is interested in playing a band instrument, bring them to the PAC at 5 p.m. as there will be a “petting zoo” where they may try a variety of instruments – for free!

All proceeds will go to the Arrowhead Arts Association, which was instrumental in providing these opportunities to the schools’ musicians.

The Southern California Brass Consortium (SCBC), America’s largest professional symphonic brass ensemble, is a nonprofit organization founded in 2013. Its mission is to share the exhilarating spirit of brass music through concerts, recordings, educational outreach and world premiere compositions.

SCBC is an ensemble of 25 professional brass players and percussionists (and a harp!), many of whom are studio musicians, as well as performing in such ensembles as the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Pacific Symphony, San Diego Symphony, the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra and entertainment venues such as Disneyland theme park. SCBC is also dedicated to the commissioning of new works; since its inception, the group has presented over 20 world premieres.

For more information on the ensemble, visit https://www.socalbrass.org/.

Admission to the concert is free. Donations, which will benefit the Arrowhead Arts Association, are welcome.
