The 36th annual Arrowhead Lake Association fishing derby took place on Saturday, May 23 at the ALA marina. There were 111 anglers who participated in the adult trout, adult bass and youth trout categories.

“The weather was great and the marina was packed,” said Sharon Pitman, the derby chair.

In the adult trout category, first place went to Yoshio and Jackie Okada with a team weight of 13.58 pounds. Second place went to Ceasar DeCasas and Ethan Smiddy, 8.59 pounds. And third place to Christian Robertson and Robert Augat, 7.97 pounds.

For adult bass, first place went to Kody Parkerson, 13.37; second to Andy Olsen and Chase Olsen, 10.15; third to Steve Schimpf and Ryne Sutherland, 9.92.

For youth trout, Zaydin Bruce and Levi Lathrop took first, 11.81 pounds; Tim and Ryan Summerhays took second, 5.61 pounds; Tony Lomedico and Mason Van Dyck took third, 2.59 pounds.

Ruben Reinoso caught the adult biggest trout at 3.85 pounds. The biggest adult bass was caught by Kody Parkerson, 3.43 pounds. And Zaydin Bruce and Levi Lathrop caught the youth biggest trout, 3.41 pounds.

ALA is grateful to John Capella and General Manager Rona Kay of UCLA for the barbecue lunch. And they thank volunteers Scott and Roberta Rindenow, Kathi Rothner, Bill Saksa and Alan Kaitz, chair of ALA’s Lake Operations Committee.
