First Friday at The Lake House not only features the work of exceptional artists but also benefits local charities, who receive a portion of the proceeds.
The first Friday event of the year will take place on July 3 as owners Robin and John Lyles celebrate their 17th season.
This First Friday event will feature the work of painters Dave Wescott and Lisa Mozzini-McDill.
Dave Wescott
Dave Wescott taught secondary art for 34 years in the Rim of the World Unified School District. He had received a master’s degree in art education from Cal State Los Angeles after completing his undergraduate studies in fine art at the San Diego and London campuses of U.S. International University.
A visit to Santa Fe in the summer of 1995 began to change the direction of the art he created. Studying with Albert Handell, a nationally recognized pastel artist, Wescott began to discover his own voice, adding watercolor to this challenging medium. His landscapes reflect the light of the southwest, the hills of Tuscany and Provence as well as the woods and meadows of Lake Arrowhead and New England.
He currently serves on the board of directors of the Mountain Arts Network.
Lisa Mozzini-McDill says that, when painting, she thinks about “emphasizing an exciting play of light and shadow, an interesting composition and enhancing a scene that evokes a deeper meaning or emotion in me.”
After earning a degree in graphic communications, Mozzini-McDill worked as a graphic artist, illustrator and portrait artist for more than 10 years in San Diego. Today she works primarily in oil on plein air landscapes, larger studio work and commissioned portraits.
She is an artist member of the California Art Club and a signature member of the Lagune Plein Air Painters Association.
Each month Robin Lyles donates a portion of the proceeds from the event to a mountain nonprofit. The Blue Jay Jazz Foundation will be the July 3 beneficiary. They support music education in the mountain communities and nurture new generations of musicians while building interest and expanding audiences for jazz as both art and entertainment.
