First Friday at The Lake House not only features the work of exceptional artists but also benefits local charities, who receive a portion of the proceeds.
The First Friday event on Aug. 7 will feature the work of painters Linda Brown and Scott Pryde.
Scott Pryde
A Southern California native, Linda Brown grew up with equal passions for nature and art. Becoming a professional landscape artist was inevitable. Essentially self-taught in the basics of oil painting, she has been painting most of her life.
Brown’s style of realism captures the special feeling of a place and celebrates all the colors, textures and moods of nature. The way sunlight plays on a surface – whether a mountain range or a single stone – will capture her heart and demand to be painted.
Born and raised in San Diego, Scott Pryde was introduced to painting by his grandmother at an early age. An artist herself, she helped lay down principles of light and color.
Pryde studied environmental design at Cal Poly Pomona. A resident of Lake Arrowhead both full and part-time since 1995, he now splits his time between the East and West Coasts.

He enjoys capturing the play of light and water and reflection. Painting on both coasts lends a great diversity to his work.
Each month owner Robin Lyles donates a portion of the proceeds from the event to a mountain nonprofit. The Lake Arrowhead Rotary Foundation will be the Aug. 7 recipient.
