Come visit with the artists

Sep 2, 2026 | Arts & Culture, Cedar Glen

First Friday at The Lake House not only features the work of exceptional artists but also benefits local charities, who receive a portion of the proceeds.

The First Friday event on Sept. 4 will feature the work of painters Debra Holladay and Kelly Lingel.

A lifelong painter and native Californian, Holladay’s art career began at age 2 with a tube of red lipstick and her cooperative dog. This was followed by a crayon wall mural unsuccessfully hidden behind a chest of drawers.

Her paintings capture fleeting moments of the American experience which, on closer inspection, reward the viewer with small details often overlooked by the casual observer. Her work is frequently included in juried museum and themed gallery exhibitions and invitational shows.

Debra Holladay

Kelly Lingel

Lingel was born and raised in Southern California. From an early age, she knew she loved color and wanted to be an artist; she would spend hours alone painting and drawing. Her mother encouraged her creativity; she and Lingel’s godmother would take her to art museums and galleries throughout the U.S. and Europe.

Lingel has worked as an elementary and secondary school art teacher in the U.S., Spain and Japan. She paints in oil in both plein air and the studio. For her, painting is a form of meditation, both challenging and deeply fulfilling. She pains landscapes, still lifes, portraits and figurative works.

Each month owner Robin Lyles donates a portion of the proceeds from the event to a mountain nonprofit. The Mountain Community Hospital Foundation will be the Sept. 4 recipient.

Stop by The Lake House from 4 to 7 p.m. to enjoy some appetizers, wine and fine art on Sept. 4. Chat with the artists, learn more about the Mountains Community Hospital Foundation and catch up with your neighbors.

The Lake House is located at 28966 Hook Creek Road in Cedar Glen. Call (909) 337-7676 or visit www.LakeHouseCollection.com for more information.
