Congratulations to the Marching Scots on their second place at the Loara Band Review.

We had our final parade competition on Saturday, Oct. 24 when we performed in Anaheim at the Loara Band Review.

It is a high-stakes competition where bands come from as far away as San Luis Obispo, and where each band has already competed in several parades and fixed their mistakes. This year there were 38 bands on the competition line, including middle school bands.

The Rim High Marching Scots did a FANTASTIC job. They received second place!

I highly recommend you watch the video (it’s short, don’t worry!) and admire how awesome our teeny tiny band looks and sounds! Here is the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jjJC98-OxTM&list=PLObLyUQZXzSA&index=19 (bit.ly/4BONIRk).

We had six judges give verbal recordings about our performance as well as a scoring sheet. All the judges agreed that we were “well-prepared,” “well-controlled” and gave a “nice, clean performance.”

This year our band is led by Colin Hobson, the head drum major. Since he is a junior, we will have the privilege of Colin’s leadership for two years starting this year. Colin has done an amazing job this year, and I am so excited to keep him on as our leader for next year. He is incredibly skilled at football game etiquette, isn’t afraid to go big in his mace routine and has helped the band strive for excellence while staying kind with one another.

A big thank you to my parent volunteers! You provided a huge service to these kids. Thank you to: The Lowery Family, The Miller Family, The McNeil/Spencer Family, The Horvath Family, The Hobson Family and The Peterson Family.
