The Running Springs Farmers Market and Artisan Faire is set to open this Saturday, March 25, weather permitting. It takes place on the field next to the library and playground, at 2645 Whispering Pines Drive, and runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Abundant fruit, vegetables, microgreens, herbs, juices – including fresh-squeezed orange juice – eggs (both pasture-raised and cage-free), honey (wildflower and alfalfa), honey products (honeycomb, beeswax, bee pollen, royal jelly and lip balm), guacamole (made by avocados from two of the farmers), jams, salsas, hot sauces, dips and salad mixes will be offered by five returning farmers (a sixth farmer starts the end of May or June with stone fruit).
“The weather is good for my farm. We need the water,” was the comment from Daniel Perez from Happy Hawk Farm. Erik Melchiorre with Rancho de los Proyectos (bringing winter produce from Colton) said they got a blanket of snow in Reche Canyon (at 1,500 feet) in late February so they are a bit concerned about losing tree fruit for a second year.
Fresh bread, jam, infused oils and vinegars, seafood, Mexican food, tamales, sweets, coffee (at Nohemi’s booth), dips, snacks, pre-packaged food, body products, herbal remedies, plants and seeds (end of May to early July), art, crafts, clothing, sewn items, jewelry, crystals, home décor, toys, collectibles, nonprofits, products, gifts, activities or games for kids (on most Saturdays) and live music are coming.
No Snow Valley Mountain Resort ski lift ticket promotion is planned as the ownership of Snow Valley has changed. Check in with Facebook (@RSFarmersMarket) or Instagram (@RS_FarmersMarket) for vendor updates and new fun things happening at the market. There are special events planned for Earth Day, First Responders Day and, of course, the annual giveaway of school supplies.
