The 2023 Blue Jay Jazz Festival was an incredible event filled with great entertainment, delicious food and a sense of community that brought smiles to the faces of all who attended.
Not only was the festival well attended with record turnout, it was a celebration reigniting family and friendships that far exceeded our expectations. This could not have taken place without the hard work and effort of the Blue Jay Jazz Foundation board of directors and scores of volunteers who helped to plan and execute this event.
As the saying goes, “many hands make light work.” Old hands and newcomers alike offered up willing hearts and ready hands.
The festival was a time to celebrate unity, healing and goodwill. We are immensely grateful to our 2023 Jazz Ambassador, actor Ernie Hudson, an impressive slate of world class musicians, Future Generation music scholars, “Leading Light” honorees and others who played a pivotal role in making the three-day event a reality.
Watching those Rim High School music scholars perform live with multi-Grammy Award winners George Whitty and Eric Marienthal strengthened our resolve and made us immensely proud.
As we bid farewell to this year’s festival, we look forward to the next gathering, where we can once again come together, celebrate and create cherished memories.
Local photographer Dylan Wood and BJJF media correspondent Mary Lindsey captured the essence of Festival 2023, cool breezes, mesmerizing music and drop-dead lake and mountain views against a purple sky. Visit our website at bluejayjazz.org to relive the joy.
We extend our sincerest gratitude to the Alpine Mountaineer and all those who played a part in making this event a grand success.
