The California Highway Patrol (CHP) will be collecting toys, games, clothing and other age-appropriate items for children at Walgreen’s, located at 42107 Big Bear Blvd. in Big Bear from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on both Thursday, Dec. 7 and Friday, Dec. 8.
They will be repeating this scenario on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 15 and 16 at Walmart, located at 4210 Highland Ave. in the city of Highland, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
These items may also be dropped off during regular business hours at the CHP’s Arrowhead Area office, located at 31230 Highway 18 in Running Springs. Children, with their parents, can pick up their CHiPs 4 Kids presents from 1 to 4 p.m. at La Michoacana Ice Cream, located at 4111 N. Sierra Way in San Bernardino.
According to Sheriff’s Employees Benefit Association Events Director Mike Tulisiak, children from the mountain area communities will be able to participate in the Sheriff’s “Shop with a Cop” program at the Redlands Walmart store, located at 2050 W, Redlands Blvd., at 8 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 9. Tulisiak told the Alpine Mountaineer that deputies from the Twin Peaks Sheriff’s Station will be escorting children throughout the store with a shopping cart which can be filled with $100 worth of clothing and another $100 worth of other age-appropriate items.
The Twin Peaks Sheriff’s Station will be hosting its own annual Christmas Feast for Families event on Saturday, Dec. 22. Beginning at 4:30 p.m., children of families that have been selected by sheriff’s deputies are invited to meet with Santa and get a Christmas present and each family will be able to pick up a traditional Christmas turkey dinner with all of the trimmings.
