Are you prepared for a disaster?

Jun 6, 2024 | Mountain Emergency Updates

Are you interested in learning how to prepare and help your family and neighbors in the event of a disaster or other major event? With earthquakes and El Niño looming over our heads, can you spare a couple of weekends?

If you want to help but don’t know where to go, consider joining your Mountain Community Emergency Response Team (Mtn CERT). CERT is run by the San Bernardino County Office of Emergency Services (OES) in our area, to assist when the fire department is overwhelmed. While we hope this never happens, Snowmaggedon has proven otherwise.

The next CERT basic training class in Lake Arrowhead will take place on the evening of June 21 AND all day June 22 and 29 at Fire Station 91 in Lake Arrowhead. To join this, or a future class, contact Mtn CERT Coordinators Mike Fox or Claudia Welch at [email protected]. Only 28 spots are available. Visit Ready.gov for more information.

CERT members will need to pass a Live Scan to obtain final certification and ID (class and Live Scan provided by the county).
