Special to the Alpine Mountaineer
Tina Fox moved from Orange County to the mountain community in 2004 with her husband, Bob, and their two daughters, Ali and Sam, shortly before starting her own local catering company.
Tina had previously worked for catering companies in Culver City and in Orange County, but her love for the industry began even sooner than that. Tina emphasized that she had the best mentors in the beginning of her cooking journey. Her parents and grandmother cooked from the heart and passed that down to her.
“It is very important to me to home make as much as we can. It’s what makes us unique,” Tina said.
In 2004 Tina founded her own catering company, Fox in the Woods Catering. She had one employee; they would prep and serve the food all on their own. The company began to grow and in 2007 they booked their first event at Arrowhead Pine Rose Cabins in Twin Peaks, which became a regular venue. In 2015 they booked with San Moritz Lodge in Crestline, which continues to be where they prep food for weddings. Four years ago, they signed on with Miller’s Landing in Cedar Glen.
As members of Church of the Woods, Tina and Bob found many people who were happy to lend a hand. Tina said that they “couldn’t have done it without Church of the Woods.” The church supported them from the very beginning, allowing them to use their kitchen and also helped with weddings.
After working with her parents for years and finding her own love of cooking, Bob and Tina’s daughter, Ali, is now the general manager, who helps with prep and runs the sites. Their daughter Sam, a teacher in Riverside, helps out whenever she can. Bob does all the shopping and delivering, sometimes running from venue to venue to bring needed items and is excellent on the grill. Big on family and community, Fox in the Woods is dedicated to hiring locals and tends to hire based on recommendations from current employees.
They now have around 33 employees, who help prep, set up and serve at the venues each weekend.
“We are so proud of our crew,” Tina said. “Most of them have a second job and they work so hard for us; we really appreciate them.”

Each week, Tina and Ali prep meals for weddings at the three venues, and the crew shows up at each site to set up and serve. It is a smooth process that they have perfected over the years.
In an effort to give back to the community that has supported them all these years, the Fox family puts on a free Thanksgiving dinner at Church of the Woods for all local seniors and have done so for the past 20 years. They also fed seniors at San Moritz for six years and throughout COVID.
Dinner rolls are sourced from local bakeries as well as other ingredients whenever possible. Tina is always eager to cater community events.

Fox in the Woods Catering offers a delicious array of food. Tina and Ali have come up with their own recipes, putting their own love and twists into them. Their tri-tip steak, pesto pasta and stuffed chicken are popular favorites. They also offer vegan, vegetarian and kid-friendly options when needed. They cater choices of appetizers, entrees, sides and a full salad bar.
Fox in the Woods caters all sorts of private events. For any catering needs, contact Tina at (909) 556-9735 or book at foxinthewoodscatering.com.
