Special guest Inna Faliks will play Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue.”

In celebration of the 100th anniversary of George Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue,” Arrowhead Arts has engaged the director of the Riverside Philharmonic, Tomasz Golka. The maestro has chosen the best studio musicians who will accompany his special guest artist, Inna Faliks, head of the piano department of UCLA. She will be playing on a Yamaha concert grand piano transported to Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church specifically for this event.

Born in Ukraine, Faliks has performed across the U.S., Europe and Asia. She has a strong commitment to contemporary music, giving premieres of works composed for her by a number of composers.

The program will include other great selections by Tchaikovsky and Beethoven and conclude with a tribute medley to Duke Ellington.

Guests will also be treated to the talent of the Mountaintop Strings, who recently returned from their third Italian tour. These young musicians will open the program.

Admission to the concert is free as Arrowhead Arts is underwriting the cost. However, those who plan to attend are asked to make a reservation on Arrowhead Arts’ website: www.arrowheadarts.org. Click on “Events,” the Fall Festival and then fill out the form and submit it. Reservations made for the previous date will be honored; there is no need for those folks to register again.

Our Lady of the Lake Church is located at 27627 Rim of the World Drive in Lake Arrowhead.
