When the judges for Crestlights, Dirk Rinker and Grayson Lopez, drove around Crestline to see all the homes and businesses that had enrolled in this year’s Crestlights home and business lighting contest, they said it was “a delightful couple of hours” driving from home to home and seeing the community lit up for the holidays.
The yearly competition is done in a festive spirit, which seems to encourage spreading holiday joy throughout the mountain by illuminating the community with holiday lights on residences and businesses. Lopez decided, years ago, since so many residents are going to decorate anyway, to have a friendly contest and let some folks win a small recognition for all of their efforts. So, this contest was created to recognize those who make the Crestline community sparkle with holiday joy, because it lifts the spirits of those who see them.

The second-place winner was the Imbriani family at 24539 San Moritz Drive.
There were two categories in which to enter, either residence or business, and there are three winners in each category, with each winner receiving a trophy.
The homes registered for the Crestlights contest were from Crestline and Cedarpines Park. There are many other decorated homes that didn’t enter this year that are also beautifully lit. If you follow the list from top to bottom, you’ll have a route that is direct and takes only about an hour-and-a-half to see all the Crestlights of 2024. 1) 385 Hartman Circle, CPP; 2) 208 Meadow Lane, VOE; 3) 446 Valley Ct, VOE; 4) 138 State Highway 138; 5) 23455 Knapps Cutoff, VOE; 6) 23235 Crestline Rd; 7) 23518 Lake Dr.; 8) 23575 Lake Dr.; 9) 23707 Lake Dr.; 10) 23715 Lake Dr.; 11) 23753 Lake Dr.; 12) 23627 Manzanita Dr.; 13) 23854 Springwater Rd.: 14) 333 Weisshorn; 15) 101 Zermatt; 16) 25052 Boa Dr VOE; 17)23988 Scenic Dr.; 18) 24271 San Moritz Dr.: 19) 24539 San Moritz Dr.; 20) 24399 Bernard; 21) 24582 Horst; 22) 24614 Albrun Dr.; 23) 960 Chillon Dr.
“We love to see the talent and imagination of our mountain residents that literally make our mountain shine,” said contest coordinator Grayson Lopez.
The Crestlights winners in the residential category were announced on Saturday, Dec. 14. First place went to the Wurtz Family at 960 Chillon Dr. with their Ferris wheel-decorated yard and truck and so much more.
Second place was awarded to the Imbriani family at 24539 San Moritz Dr. Third place in residential went to Sally and Steve at 24399 Bernard in the San Moritz area of town. But this year, since so many houses looked so wonderful, the judges added two honorable mentions: Manny Macias at 446 Valley Ct. and Mr. Gene at 385 Hartman Circle in Cedarpines Park, which is definitely worth the drive.

In the business category, again this year in first place is A. Polston Concrete with all their inflatables at the turn of Lake Drive across from the Shell station. In second place, next door to A. Polston, is Acuna Plumbing and in third place, just up the road, was San Marzano Wine and Ale at the turn of Lake Drive at Fern Drive.
The Crestline Crestlights lighting competition has made Crestline shine again this year. “I hope many residents drive around town, since the weather has been so nice, see the beauty your neighbors have put together to make Crestline a Christmas sparkling jewel,” Grayson said, adding, “It has been my pleasure to give this gift of Christmas lights to my loving town of Crestline. Merry Christmas and God bless you this holiday season.”
