The mountains’ newest training gym is now open at 23919 Lake Drive in Crestline, next door to the post office in the Lake Gregory section of Crestline.
Inside the new gym, which has been a dream of owner Jon Jurado and co-owner JoJo Marquez for many years, are new pin and cable machines, weight training equipment and classes with expert trainers and nutritionists for whatever your health needs may be. Already their class schedule includes yoga, martial arts, jiu jitsu, kick boxing, Muay Thai, belly dancing, HIIT (High-Intensity Interval Training), dance classes, kettle bell strength training and Pilates. With additional gym members, they will be adding much more.

When joining the gym, an interview is available to see how your needs can best be served by their gym. They have six employees plus six trainers. Their martial arts trainers are Aaron Williams, JoJo Marquez and Abraham Barraza.
Elite Altitude Training has indoor sports training opportunities for each season and for year-round activities. They have an artificial turf area for warmups for those playing football and an expandable batting cage for baseball and softball, with a pitching machine for individual or team use.
There is a video golf simulator for teeing off and a complete playing experience. The speed of the golf simulator is almost better than real life, and without the wind factor. Golfers can enjoy world-renowned PGA courses with advanced ball tracking technology, which is suitable for all skill levels.
“This will assist in helping golfers improve their swings and stay in shape over the winter,” Marquez said. The simulator allows up to a foursome to play golf over 20 different PGA golf courses, for a fully immersive experience. “Say goodbye to weather restrictions and hello to year-round golfing,” Marquez added.
The state-of-the-art weight room has weights for all ages, from low to high weights and various sizes, with racks and cable machines in a fully functional 1,500-square foot training area, with multi-purpose training turf and a separate classroom area. Elite Altitude trainers can personalize a workout for each member. They have a 3,000-square foot workout area, with an additional 600 square feet for MMA training with mats and bags and for classes. Plus, there is a cardio room with treadmills, ellipticals and bikes.
Yoga classes, led by Gigi, a 15-year registered yoga instructor, are already scheduled on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Elite Altitude Training offers regular yoga at 9 a.m. and chair yoga for seniors at 10:30 a.m., with another yoga class at 5:15 p.m. on Thursdays. If all you need is a yoga membership, it is $50 a month or drop in for $15. Other class instructors are Hannah Seat and Ya’el Belia Row. Adding some gym time with your yoga pass is $30 additional a month. All fees for classes and membership passes can be found on their website, www.elitealtitude.co. Email them with questions at contact@elitealtitude.co.
Elite Altitude is a modern facility with a tap card to enter. They offer services to those 8 years of age and above, into seniors. They offer the Silver Sneaker program for seniors wanting to live a healthy lifestyle. They have many different pass memberships, from senior to youth MMA and they offer a “Crestline Local” discount membership level.

A new parking lot has been created behind Ace Hardware, across Wildrose Lane, for use by gym members, so parking should not be a problem with this new facility, nor take away from post office parking availability. Their open hours are 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. weekdays so they are available for most, around any work schedule, and weekends from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Getting the gym open has been quite a process. Marquez and Jurado had been actively searching for a location for years, as they taught elsewhere over the past decade. They planned on opening in this location of the former Oak Trunk before Snowmageddon but were delayed since the Goodwins needed the building as a work base for swiftly rebuilding the roof of the community’s grocery market. They also had hoped to open last July but have been busy meeting additional county requirements and a new fire sprinkler installation.
However, this long delay has also given the owners the opportunity to get the best equipment and to think through the gym’s designs and programs to be able to offer the best services available.
Owner Jon Jurado has lived on the mountain for 35 years. He has been a local multi-sport coach for youth athletics, as well as high school athletics, training athletes for over a decade. He has earned certification for personal training and foundational movement training and received his degree in nutrition from Arizona State University.
Co-owner JoJo Marquez is a 20-year mountain resident who is a former competitive fighter under Joe Stevenson’s Cobra Kai and Master Toddy’s Muay Thai. He has seven years of personal training experience, providing a setting where athletes can grow and improve year-round. By putting his clients first and by being supportive, he makes sure they safely attain their own individual goals.
Elite Altitude Training has a saying of “Now is the time to become Elite.” They invite you to come in, see their facility and take a tour. For additional information, see their website or call (909) 377-4009.
