Man arrested for drug possession with intent to sell
On Jan. 20, 2025, at approximately 11:28 a.m., deputies from the Big Bear Multiple Enforcement Team executed a search warrant at the residence of Armando Rios in the 17800 block of Owen Street in Fontana in connection with an ongoing investigation into the supply and sale of controlled substances in the Big Bear area.
Deputies found approximately 10 ounces of methamphetamine and a digital scale used for the sale of controlled substances. Rios, 52, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, and possession of a controlled substance with two prior drug-related convictions. Rios was booked into custody at the West Valley Detention Center.
Rios is currently out of custody on bond and is scheduled to appear at the San Bernardino Superior Court on March 6, 2025.

Highland deputies arrest two women for stealing from a business
On Monday, Jan. 20, 2025, at 11:40 a.m., employees at a local business reported to sheriff’s dispatch that two females stole numerous items from the business and fled the parking lot in a red Hyundai sedan.
Deputies arrived at the business, located in the 27300 block of Baseline Street, Highland, moments after the theft and obtained the Hyundai’s license plate and a description of both suspects. The suspects were observed traveling west on Baseline Street and a traffic stop was conducted.
The driver, Andrea Wilson – 34 of Victorville – and passenger, Latoya Collins – 39 of Adelanto – were detained without incident, and the stolen merchandise was returned to the business.
A criminal records check revealed that Wilson and Collins had more than two convictions for theft-related crimes. As a result, Wilson and Collins were arrested for petty theft with two prior convictions and were booked at the Central Detention Center, each with a bail set at $30,000.00.
Deputies respond to house fire, arrest man after he fled the scene
On Jan. 16, at about 1:03 p.m., deputies in Highland responded to a fully engulfed structure fire at an abandoned property – located in the 26800 block of 5th Street – which was ultimately destroyed by the flames.
Witnesses reported seeing suspects leaving the vacant house as it ignited; dispatch provided a suspect description to responding deputies. A search was conducted and, after a thorough area check, deputies and detectives apprehended multiple people in the area of the fire.
Further investigation revealed James Brundage, 49 of Highland, had occupied a vacant red-tagged residence. Brundage was subsequently arrested in the area by deputies for California Penal Code 452(c), unlawful setting of a fire, and was booked in jail.

Highland deputies arrest man for possession of controlled substance
On Thursday, Jan. 23, 2025, at approximately 11:17 a.m., deputies from the Highland Police Station conducted a proactive traffic stop at the intersection of Sterling Avenue and Jane Street involving a bicyclist identified as Hector Guerrero, 38 of San Bernardino.
During the investigative stop, deputies searched Guerrero and found a plastic bindle containing about three grams of a white crystalline substance suspected to be methamphetamine. A records check revealed Guerrero had been previously convicted on two drug-related charges.
As a result, Guerrero was arrested for Health and Safety Code 11395 (b)(1), which pertains to possession of a controlled substance with prior convictions. Guerrero was subsequently transported and booked at the Central Detention Center Jail.
