Patience – not chains – required last weekend

Mar 19, 2025 | Mountain Emergency Update

Busy road with cars and trees in background.

The traffic coming up and going off the mountain was very backed up and slow this last weekend, because of the closure of Highway 330. That closure forced all the snow seekers, skiers and snow boarders going to the ski resorts at Snow Valley and Big Bear to use Highway 18 from San Bernardino, which passed by the Lake Arrowhead and Crestline areas and through downtown Running Springs. The traffic signal at Lake Gregory Drive created a backup of cars that stretched through Rim Forest and at times to Crest Park. Each turnout along Highway 18 was filled with folks reveling in the snow. Patience was the order of the day.
