Enjoy art and fellowship while supporting jazz

Jul 2, 2025 | Arts & Culture

First Friday at The Lake House not only features the work of exceptional artists but also benefits local charities, who receive a portion of the proceeds.

The first Friday event of the year will take place on July 4 as Robin and John Lyles celebrate their 16th season.

This First Friday event will feature the work of Kelly Lingel and Scott Pryde.

From an early age, Kelly Lingel knew she loved color and wanted to be an artist. She spent hours alone painting and drawing and was fortunate to be exposed to great artwork from a young age. Her mother encouraged her creativity and took her to art museums and galleries throughout the U.S. and Europe.

Lingel has worked as an elementary and secondary school art teacher in the U.S., Spain and Japan. She paints in oil in both plein air and the studio. For her, painting is a form of meditation. She paints landscapes, still lifes, portraits and figurative works.

Scott Pryde was introduced to painting by his grandmother at an early age. An artist herself, she helped lay down principles of light and color.

Pryde splits his time between Lake Arrowhead and the East Coast. He enjoys capturing the play of light and water and reflection. Painting on both sides of the country lends a great diversity to his work.

Each month Robin Lyles, owner of The Lake House, donates a portion of the proceeds from the event to a mountain nonprofit. The Blue Jay Jazz Foundation will be the July 4 beneficiary. They support music education in the mountain communities and nurture new generations of musicians while building interest and expanding audiences for jazz as both art and entertainment.

Stop by The Lake House from 4 to 7 p.m. to enjoy some appetizers, wine and fine art on July 4. Chat with the artists, learn more about the Blue Jay Jazz Foundation and catch up with your neighbors.

The Lake House is located at 28966 Hook Creek Road in Cedar Glen. Call (909) 337-7676 or visit www.LakeHouseCollection.com for more information.

Kelly Lingel is one of the featured artists at the July 4 First Friday.

Artist Scott Pryde will be at the July 4 First Friday at The Lake House.
