Dear Editor,
Extraordinary thanks to the Alpine Mountaineer, MJ Lanyon and Cecilia Ponce de Leon for your sponsorship of the Blue Jay Jazz Festival 2025! Our board of directors expresses great appreciation for your supporting our mission of honoring the uniquely American musical heritage through jazz performances and music education. We have just wrapped up our 18th Blue Jay Jazz Festival and, judging from the many, many comments received, it was one of our best!
Our Thursday event, opening with the Digital Audio Projekt, got people up out of their seats and gave an opportunity for our Rim High jazz students to perform with encouraging professional musicians. The headliner, Ms. Monet with the George Whitty Band, prompted dancing, cheers and encores.
Friday, the Little Phat Band offered thrilling arrangements and got toes tapping. The standing ovations were well deserved.
Our outside Saturday Jazz Salon Show was threatened with thunderstorms and rain and moved indoors to the Lake Arrowhead Resort Ballroom with the room transformed into an intimate jazz club, packed wall-to-wall and perfect for the “Golden Age of Nat King Cole.”
Our gratitude for your continuing support is boundless, with many fine articles and photos in the Alpine Mountaineer getting readers enthused and highlighting our musical program each evening while introducing our student scholarship recipients. Thanks for helping the Blue Jay Jazz Foundation offer student music scholarships, our instrument lending library, playing opportunities for student musicians and promoting music education in our Rim of the World Unified School District.
Hugh A. Bialecki, DMD
