The Lake Arrowhead Communities Chamber of Commerce celebrated a major milestone on Nov. 18 with its first-ever Business Expo, an event that exceeded expectations, energized local entrepreneurs and brought the mountain community together in a big way.

Higher Ground Heating and Air Conditioning was one of the nearly 50 businesses that participated in the first-ever Business Expo.
Lori Butler, the chamber’s executive director, reported 287 registered attendees, with an additional 150 walk-ins, not including the many children who joined their parents throughout the day. The strong turnout highlighted the community’s growing interest in supporting local businesses and learning about available resources.
“We knew there was enthusiasm, but the energy in the room was incredible,” Cecilia Ponce de Leon, immediate past chamber board chairwoman, said. “The mountain showed up for its business community.”
A full lineup of workshops drew steady attendance throughout the event. From marketing strategies to small-business financing and tourism-focused development, each session was met with engaged participants eager to grow and strengthen their operations.
“The workshops were packed. People were really hungry for this kind of hands-on information,” one attendee remarked.
One of the day’s most memorable moments came during the spirited Nonprofit Dance-Off, where local organizations took the floor in a friendly competition. The crowd favorite – thanks to her smooth, confident moves – was Jo Bonita Rains, dancing on behalf of the Rim of the World Educational Foundation.
In recognition of the big win, a personal $100 donation was awarded to the foundation.
“It was pure fun, the kind of moment that reminds us why community events matter,” organizers said.
With close to 50 businesses exhibiting, as predicted the expo offered a wide-ranging look at the services, products and innovations taking place across the mountain communities. From real estate and hospitality to wellness, construction, retail, education and professional services, the expo floor vibrated with networking and new connections.
Vendors noted high engagement, meaningful conversations and strong interest from residents and fellow business owners alike.
The success of the inaugural Business Expo signals the beginning of what many hope will become a signature annual event for the Lake Arrowhead region.
“This is just the beginning,” Ken Witte, chamber chairman, said. “Our mountain is full of talented, hardworking business owners and, when we come together, we all rise.”
The Lake Arrowhead Communities Chamber of Commerce expressed gratitude to all attendees, sponsors, volunteers and families who contributed to an unforgettable community event.
