Dear Editor:
Every morning, I ask for guidance on how I can save our country, how I can contribute to my community and how to guide my children and grandchildren.
I was deeply concerned about people going hungry during the shutdown so I asked Mike Johnstone at Goodwin’s Market if I could host a food drive. As luck would have it, it was scheduled during a terrible rainstorm. Regardless of the weather, Crestliners were shopping and were very generous in their donations.
The food was all given to the Seventh-day Adventist Food Pantry who hands out food every Sunday. According to Bonnie Cole, who heads the project, they now have plenty of food through the holiday and have a big jump for next year. They also received over $1,000 in cash and Zelle donations since the mention of the food drive. Thank you again for all who donated.
Extra thanks to Kathy Ogaz, Raymond and Catherine Johnson, Dann Lahr, Maria, Jamie, Jedidiah and Caleb for helping during the food drive and Phil Conway and Daniel Berka and Jamie (again) for driving the mountain of food to the church. Lastly, thank you to Mike Johnstone of Goodwin’s Market for allowing me to host the event at the store.
If you know of anyone in need of food, the Seventh-day Adventist Church is located at 22972 Waters Drive and the panty is open every Sunday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
