At the annual Arrowhead Arts Association Auxiliary membership luncheon, the members enjoyed a meal catered by RB’s Steakhouse and then were entertained by the pianist brother-and-sister team of Aleric and Bo Herzog.

President Michelle Wavering announced several upcoming events: A Mountain Top Strings concert on April 19, a purse auction on May 17, the community garden tour on June 27 and the fall music festival on Sept. 20.

“We are the heart of Arrowhead Arts,” Wavering said. “We bring the magic of music to the mountain. Our mission is to support student musicians through school programs, private lessons and scholarships to college and music camps.

“The love of fine arts is so important to the brain,” she added.

Two of those student musicians then entertained the Auxiliary.

First Aleric Herzog took a seat at the piano at Lorna Polley’s home. He told the Auxiliary he had been playing piano for four years. “Every step got more enjoyable,” he said.

He recently placed first at the local Rotary music competition and will participate in the district competition on March 28. “I understand it’s very competitive,” Aleric said. “The draw is to perform.”

Aleric played pieces by Scriabin and Bach.

Bo Herzog has also studied piano for four years. She played pieces by Handel and Satie.

“Thank you for being here for us,” Aleric told the Auxiliary members.
