Lake Gregory Regional Park Beach opened on the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend, and will be open weekends until school is out, weather permitting. The Lake Gregory Company is offering new amenities this season including their new white aqua floating cabanas. They will be so popular, that advance reservations may be needed. Visitors can walk out to them on the new floating dock, without getting wet, and enjoy the middle of the lake views, where parents could closely watch their children on the inflatables.

The water slides were very popular over the weekend, as was the zero-level water park filled with sprinklers and intermittent water fountains for all ages; they are included in the entrance fee. See the website for the days and hours the beach area is open in early June. Beginning June 12, the beach and water park will be open daily all summer long until Labor Day weekend.

The lifeguards are trained in swimming pool, water park and lake water safety. They are specially trained and certified by the Red Cross for this unique water environment.

The snack bar and grill is now open for visitors during beach hours, plus the boat house with the boat rentals, including the Duffy boats, is open daily. Fishing fees are $15 a day and can be purchased on the website. Fishing is good with recent stockings and shore fishing has reportedly been good so far this spring.

The new children’s playground has been popular since its soft opening; it had its official ribbon cutting ceremony, with all the government officials, on Wednesday, May 27 at 4 p.m., scheduled so the kids would be out of school and could attend.  It is suggested that dogs not enter the children’s playground for sanitary reasons; the dog park is located next door. The San Moritz Meadow was also very popular over Memorial Day weekend; with the nice weather, many families were picnicking on the grass and playing frisbee.  The bait and tackle shop is open 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily; shore fishing is open from sunup to sunset all year long. The lake is frequently stocked with three kinds of trout, bass and catfish in season.

The regional park is a central part of the community and is a meeting place for locals and visitors alike. They will be hosting the fireworks over the lake on Friday, July 3, opening the beach for viewing at 6:30 p.m. Bring beach blankets to sit on while waiting (the water will be closed then, as the lifeguards will be off duty). The snack bar and beach grill restaurant will be open for feasting while waiting for the fireworks to be shot off at 9 p.m.

Check out their website to purchase advance tickets for beach days, see their hours and to see upcoming events at the lake: www.LakeGregory.com. General beach access is $17 a day; an all-access pass to the beach, all the inflatables and water slides is $32 a day. They also have beach memberships for those who want to spend every day at the lake.
