About two dozen law enforcement professionals, local citizens and thirsty passersby paid a visit to recently opened Kuffel Canyon Coffee, located at 29632 Sycamore Drive in Skyforest, from 9 to 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 16 to tantalize their taste buds with a freshly perked mid-morning “Cup of Joe,” along with some espresso and indulgent lattes, topped off with a plethora of freshly baked pastries.
Noting that his business has been opened for 90 days, owner-operator Joe Timoner, who is a member of the Lake Arrowhead Communities Chamber of Commerce, said he has received overwhelming support from the surrounding community. “They’re here to support us and they have given us a warm welcome,” he said, adding, “Word of mouth communication has helped make this a successful venture.” This, he said, is despite a three-and-a-half-year delay due to required permits.
Twin Peaks Sheriff’s Station Commander Capt. Craig Harris reminded the public that the Sheriff’s Rodeo took place in the town of Devore on Friday, Sept. 25 and Saturday, Sept. 26.
CHP Public Information Officer Jacob Griede reminds those interested in classic cars that the yearly Trunk -A-Treat (Halloween) Open House and Car Show is coming to the CHP’s Arrowhead Area Station on Saturday, Oct. 24, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. All ages are welcome.
When asked what type of crimes are currently trending in the mountaintop communities, Sheriff’s Deputy Sandoval told the Alpine Mountaineer that there had been some recent vandalism in the Lake Gregory residential area of Straight Way and Pioneer Camp, where deputies are reportedly still searching for 26-year-old assault and theft suspect Erik Esduardo Navarro, whose recent crimes were revealed in the Sept. 3 edition of this newspaper.
