With the ground saturated from all the recent rain, rocks and mud tumbled down the slopes to Highway 18, causing a number of closures of the road while Caltrans crews went to work. The Narrows had to be closed on Jan. 14 due to the pictured rockslide; the section of Highway 18 was closed several other times over the course of the series of storms. Motorists were detoured through Crestline. All that rain filled Lake Arrowhead to overflowing. The full lake elevation is 5106.7; on Monday, Jan. 16, the lake was at 5107.13. As a result, both spillway gates were opened. The ducks in Lake Arrowhead Village were happy with the higher water level.
