Mystic Mountain Music, the one-and-only certified vinyl record store in the mountaintop communities, celebrated its fifth year in business on Saturday, April 20, which was National Record Store Day.

Owner Steven Taylor was in a jovial mood on National Record Store Day.

Owner Steven Taylor celebrated by offering a 10-percent discount on all non-sale records and treating all customers to free barbecued hot dogs.

Taylor, who was raised in Sacramento and studied at the University of Washington, is well-known in the mountain communities as a prolific singer/songwriter. In addition to performing at local taverns, he is a regular street entertainer at Crestline’s summertime Corks & Hops, as well as at the Lake Gregory farmers market.

Taylor is always willing to let customers listen to a record they are interested in buying. And, if the record you want is not currently in stock, he will gladly order it for you.

When asked what inspired him to get into the record business, he told the Alpine Mountaineer, “My original motive was to have something for the community to experience and to enjoy music.”

Mystic Mountain Music, located at 23830 Lake Drive in Crestline, is open seven days a week from 12 noon to 5 p.m. For more information, call them at (909) 341-3212.
