At their monthly meeting on June 18, the Crestline Chamber of Commerce discussed upcoming events: the June 30 community picnic, Jamboree Days and Corks & Hops.

The summer edition of the Crestline Magazine has just been published. The 44-page magazine will be mailed to every post office box in Cedarpines Park, Crestline, Twin Peaks, Rim Forest, Lake Arrowhead, Blue Jay, Cedar Glen, Skyforest and surrounding areas. Michelle Hake, the coordinator of the magazine, introduced the writers and photographers who made the full-color magazine so special. It will also be available at most Crestline businesses, mountain chamber offices and visitor centers in the Inland Empire.

Crestline Magazine story topics include hiking trails, Goodwin’s grocery store reopening, Lake Gregory summer fun, the Crestline launch site for hang-gliders and paragliders, Canine Mountain Adventures, Sycamore Ranch Winery in Dart Canyon, Lake Arrowhead Brewing Company, the Strawberry Peak fire lookout, Bizzyland’s Magical Kingdom and Gardens, local farmers markets, where to stay in Crestline and a directory of the Crestline Chamber’s membership businesses.

Jamboree Days is swiftly arriving. The first event is the free community picnic that is being hosted by the Crestline Chamber and volunteers from the Lake Gregory Church on the San Moritz Meadow on Sunday, June 30 from noon to 5 p.m. Families may bring their own picnic lunches or buy something from one of the food vendors. There will be relay races, watermelon eating contests, Duffy boat rides for $15 each person, bounce houses and vendors. They are seeking additional volunteers to work the community event and Jamboree Day, July 6; volunteers may sign up at www.crestlinechamber.org.

The Jamboree Days parade on July 6 will start at 10 a.m. in Top Town and end at the lake’s shore. Parade entry signups are now occurring until June 27. There are six categories for trophies; VIP seating is available through the website www.jamboreedays.com, said Jamboree Days chairman, Dirk Rinker. There will be nine parade announcing locations along the parade route.

See the Alpine Mountaineer for a special pull-out section on Jamboree Days in its July 4 edition. There will be 40 vendors throughout town, a chainsaw sculpture being made and raffled next to Higher Grounds and a kids’ fun zone in the parking lot in front of Rim Bowling lanes, which will be occurring all day. There will be a beer garden, KCAL radio will be broadcasting, and the day will conclude with a free fireworks show at 9 p.m. over Lake Gregory. The beach will open for free seating, but Lake Gregory Drive itself shall remain clear and open for traffic.

Corks & Hops will take place on the second Saturday in July, due to Jamboree Days occurring on the first Saturday. The rest of the summer’s Corks & Hops will be the first Saturday of the month from 3 to 8 p.m. They are seeking volunteers to help with check-in and at other spots, with the thank you gift of a free ticket to the event. They expect these events to bring 600 visitors to town each time.

The chamber office is still recovering from the Blizzard of 2023, which collapsed their back deck and ramp. They voted on accepting bids gathered by Nathan Hazard on the replacement. They have plans and have purchased the materials for the upgrades on the walls in the visitors center and it should be done soon.

The tri-chamber mixer, which brings the Lake Arrowhead, Running Springs and Crestline chambers together, will be held in Crestline this year inside the San Moritz Lodge on Oct. 17 from 5 to 8 p.m. with a lumberjack theme. It usually attracts government reps and offers the opportunity for businesses in the mountains to get together in a casual atmosphere.

Carol Kinzel, representing the Rim Ed Foundation, came to the meeting to recognize Louis Boehle of Encompass Gifts and Antiques and Michelle Hake of Hearth and Sage for their generous donations to the Foundation at its gala, held last month, which financially supports the CTE/ROP and AVID programs in the Rim schools. Some of the equipment that has been purchased include an 18-wheeler simulator for truck driving training and video and audio equipment for the Rim Reporter class. They also support visits to colleges for AVID students.

The free Mountain History Museum is open on Fridays from noon to 4 p.m. and weekends from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. through the summer. They will celebrate Independence Day with an ice cream social on Friday, July 5 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.  Call (909) 744-8625 for additional information. The Crestline communities have an entire display wall this year, so come see it at 27176 Peninsula Drive in Lake Arrowhead. Visit the website, www.Mtnmuseum.org, for the other events they are hosting this summer.
