The Crestline Club of Lions International supports the Crestline and mountain communities and numerous national and international causes. This month they donated to numerous groups.
Lion President Patti Barry recently presented a check for $300 to the Seventh Day Adventist food pantry program, which was received by Crystal and Mike Riseley for the food pantry. The food pantry distribution is for anyone in the community without question and is held every Sunday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 22972 Waters Drive in Valley of Enchantment. The Lions are also helping by volunteering their efforts and time at the food distribution.
The Lions Club also donated $316 to pay the cost of a local child’s glasses so they can see better, which will assist them in becoming a better student. They also donated $100 to Canine Companions, $200 to American Cancer Society, $200 to Guide Dogs of the Desert, $200 to Alzheimer’s Association, $200 to American Heart Association, $200 to Susan G. Komen Foundation and $100 to Lighthouse for the Blind in San Bernardino.
One of the fundraisers the Lions Club hosts to raise these funds is Bingo on the first Friday of each month at Leisure Shores Senior Center at 24658 San Moritz Drive in Crestline, on the east shore of Lake Gregory. The games begin at 6 p.m. but the Lions arrive at the senior center at 4:00 pm to set up and get the food started. The public is invited to come and play; the doors open at 5 p.m. with the first games at 6 p.m. Leisure Shores offers free parking for this event; just get a parking pass at the gate. There is a $25 cash buy-in for six cards for 10 games; there is a 50/50 drawing and a Power Ball drawing. All winnings are paid in cash.
The Crestline Lions Club hosts the water booth during the Crestline Chamber of Commerce’s Corks & Hops events the first Saturday of each month from 3 to 8 p.m. for five months each year. The club is also very involved in education and eye health issues.
The Crestline Lions Club holds their monthly meetings on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at Leisure Shores Senior Center.
