Letters to the Editor

May 20, 2026 | Letters to the Editor

Dear Jazz Friends,

On behalf of the Blue Jay Jazz Foundation, I would like to thank everyone who attended our Jazz Comes Home fundraiser on May 3 at the lovely San Moritz Lodge. It was a terrific success, raising $2,500 to support the Rim District Music Department. The Rim High Jazz Band performed under the direction of Rim High Music Director Kari Stebbing before a welcoming audience of over 150 jazz fans.
Thank you to local jazz artist Gregory Solman and The Groovin’ Greg Solman Band for graciously including the students in some improv solos and a big thank you to Rim alumnus and local performing artist Ara Tokatlian for opening the show with the Ara Tokatlian Quintet.
The Foundation is very grateful for the support of the many local sponsors (Osorio Brothers Cafe, Spade & Spatula, Grocery Outlet, Twin Peaks Auto Service, Saddleback Inn, The Lake House, Lake Arrowhead Pine Rose Cabins and Farmers Insurance) for their generosity and some outstanding silent auction items that added to our success.
We look forward to seeing you again at the Blue Jay Jazz Festival on August 27-29, 2026.

Sincerely,
Dr. Hugh Bialecki, President
Blue Jay Jazz Foundation
