This year’s Jamboree Days celebration promises to be one of the biggest events in Crestline history, and organizers are seeking dozens of community members as volunteers to help make the event happen.
As America marks its 250th birthday, Jamboree Days will bring together residents and visitors for a weekend of patriotic festivities, including fireworks over Lake Gregory, the beloved parade through town, several Fun Zones and beer gardens, a wrestling exhibition, four bands, dozens of shops and vendors, VIP experiences and community gatherings throughout Crestline. This year’s Jamboree Days is presented by Yuhaaviatam of San Manuel Nation.
“Every volunteer helps create the experience our guests remember,” said Dirk Rinker, chairman of the Jamboree Days committee. “Whether they’re directing vendors, assisting families in the Fun Zone, handing out cold Niagara water bottles or helping maintain the facilities, volunteers are an essential part of this cherished event.”
The need is especially urgent as the Crestline Chamber of Commerce expects attendance to break recent records following a major publicity campaign that included AAA’s Westways magazine and spots on KOLA 99.9 radio. More visitors mean more opportunities to showcase Crestline’s hospitality – but also a greater need for helping hands.
Most volunteer roles require just two or three hours. Opportunities range from physically active roles such as water delivery, ice distribution, supply transportation and event cleanup to guest-facing positions like parade lineup hosts, vendor hosts, VIP hosts, Fun Zone coordinators, first-aid and water station attendants, pet station monitors, beer garden ticket sales and parade judges.
Studies find that volunteers often report higher levels of happiness, stronger social connections and an increased sense of purpose through volunteering. Large community events are particularly rewarding because volunteers can immediately see the impact of their efforts and develop greater community pride, while working alongside neighbors toward a shared goal. Many report forming long-lasting friendships.
For residents looking to help out, Jamboree Days offers a chance to be part of something larger than themselves.
