The Skyland Arts Foundation invited the community to a viewing party held at the Lake Arrowhead Brewing Co. on Oct. 19.
What they viewed was a video created by Skyland Arts to illustrate their vision for the community. Called “What a Wonderful World – A Community United Through Art,” it features vocalist Zamira Pla who sang the song while some 70 members of the community danced, visited with Santa, did aerial silks work, painted, drew and otherwise enjoyed one another’s company.
The video begins with a recap of the devastation caused by Snowmageddon; the roof of the historic theater in Crestline being revitalized by Skyland Arts collapsed, putting their plans on hold while repairs were made.
“We wanted to put the emotion and energy we feel on the mountain into the video,” Jonathan Thompson, the founder of Skyland Arts, said. “I hope the video exemplifies that.”
Later Thompson added that “Wonderful World is more than a music video. It’s a celebration of community, creativity and the extraordinary things we can accomplish when we come together.
“It was an absolute honor to help bring this project to life,” he said. “What makes this film so special isn’t just what you see on screen, but the more than 70 incredible community members who came together to make it possible. This is what happens when art brings people together.”
Take a look at the video and watch for your friends and neighbors. It’s available on YouTube: www.youtube.com/watch?v=IErndMvr3nQ (or bit.ly/4sr3Niz).
