Mountain Disaster Relief grant funds available to mountain residents

Mar 20, 2023 | Business

Redlands, CA – The East Valley Association of Realtors (EVAR) received a $250,000 grant from
the National Association of Realtors (NAR) Realtors Relief Foundation (RRF) to assist primary
homeowners and renters who were affected by the recent snowstorms in the Lake Arrowhead,
Crestline, Big Bear and surrounding San Bernardino Mountain areas.

The EVAR United Mountain Disaster Relief grant will assist those most in need to help with their
mortgage, rent or shelter costs if they were displaced from their homes due to damage caused
by the storms. Up to $2,500 will be awarded to those that qualify.

Following the State of Emergency declaration made by California Governor Gavin Newsom on
March 1, 2023, for the affected areas, EVAR began having conversations with members based
in the affected mountain regions on how to best assist those in need. Through these
conversations, EVAR mobilized to organize shovel and snow removal donations and
subsequently applied for and received the NAR Realtors Relief Foundation grant.

“Our Realtor members aren’t just our members – they are our friends, our family and our loved
ones,” said Karah Shaw, president of the East Valley Association of Realtors. “It is our duty to
make sure that we help our Realtor family and their clients however we can in their greatest
time of need.”

“By securing funds through the Realtors Relief Foundation, not only can we help our members,
but anyone most affected by these devastating storms,” said Annette Coffey, association
executive of the East Valley Association of Realtors. “The EVAR United Mountain Disaster Relief
grant will go a long way to ensure that we are able to help those most affected to maintain
shelter and stay safe during an unimaginable time.”

“This is Realtors helping Realtors, Realtors helping our clients,” said Derek Leistra, president of the Rim O’ the World Association of Realtors. “The Rim O’ the World Association of Realtors thanks EVAR for taking care of this on our behalf while we were digging out from all the snow.”

Applications for the EVAR United Mountain Disaster Relief Grant are available now. For those
who wish to apply and for more information about who can qualify to receive aid, should visit

EVAR asks anyone who has family and friends affected by these snowstorms to share this
information and encourage them to apply if they need assistance.
